After another breakfast of buns and jam (wooooooo), we were up and running for our first Spanish lesson. The 4 of us met up with our 2 teachers and walked the few blocks to the classrooms. Mark and I have our own teacher, Berta. She was awesome and very friendly - and just had a baby 2 weeks ago, and by C-section!!!! My jaw dropped at this news but she laughed and assured me she was doing just fine (and that her newborn was at home sleeping, no big deal). We learned a lot of new verbs and vocab and had some good conversation. We got back for another mini-lesson on Lunes, with tomorrow being a day to work on the homework she gave us! (Berta's newborn has the same birthday as Beth and has decided to give her little one Beth's middle name, Amy.)
We had lunch close to the school at a university cafe with Burrill, Courtney and their teacher. It was a great find - for 15 bolivianos (just over $2) we had a 3-course meal! Soup, chicken with rice and potatoes, and an ice cream bar for dessert. Definitely the most economical meal we've had in awhile!
This afternoon Mark and I headed out to wander around the city some more. We headed up the hill to La Recoleta, a monestery and church overlooking the city of Sucre. It was nice walk and the views of the area were spectacular! We roamed around the rest of the downtown area and hit up the market to buy some fruit for tomorrow. Loving being here in spring to get a second round this year at fresh strawberries!
We had a great dinner out, again at Florin. The strange band that was practicing and chased us away when we were there the first time was again in the courtyard and kept us confined to inside the restaurant!
We're having another quiet night in and had a wonderful Skype chat with the Kaufmans! Mark and I are both so excited and honoured to be asked to be a part of Jo and Chris' big day! Yippee!
