We are nearing the end of our time here in Argentina. We haven't spent a whole lot of time here, and would probably stay longer but weather is forcing our hand and we'll head to Chile in the morning. Happy Halloween to all at home! We set off on our a hike a bit later than planned yesterday. We took a bus about 15km out of the city to a little ski town Cerro Catedral around 1pm and started our hike up to the Frey Refugio. It was a beautiful clear day so the first hour of the hike starting up the mountain was in full sun and very hot! It was great once we got into the trees and some shade. In case anyone was ever wondering, 22 hours on a bus IS a long time. Our FlechaBus left Cordoba at 2pm Thursday and arrived in Bariloche, in the lake district of Argentina, at 12pm Friday. It was surprisingly not that bad (well, for me anyway, it passed by in a mostly gravol-fueled haze). They fed us too! Such a perk of the high-class Argentinian bus system. A snack when we first boarded, tea and cookies at 6pm, dinner at 11pm (??), and breakfast in the mo...

Well, since Monday morning we've been on the move. We left Tupiza by train and headed for the Argentinian border. The train brought us as far as Villazon, where we crossed over into Argentina. From there we hopped on an afternoon bus to Salta. Unfortunately, the man who sold us our tickets was not the most honest. As a result, instead of arriving in Salta at 11pm like we had hoped, we had to switch buses in a smaller city, Jujuy, and that bus left at 11pm! ...
