The rest of the week went well. Generally I start early, do a few cases and finish early. Wednesday morning has teaching 7.30-8.30 and on Thursday mornings there is a CME (continuing medical education) meeting. The theatres here are all very organised and all notes for anaesthetists are electronic saved with all the monitoring data. The staff are all helpful, they don't mind me hanging around and let me do practical bits and pieces.
Most afternoons I head back to the hostel to chill out and make some notes before cooking up something for dinner. I tend to eat a proper meal at lunch, as provided by the hospital, and have something small in the evenings.
On Saturday Fairoz moved into her new apartment with some people she met at the hostel. I went off into town to explore Bukit Bingtang and do some shopping. Lots of window shopping later I went over to a craft centre and watch a show of traditional music before trying a local delicacy of honeycomb. The fair had loads of stall selling beautiful material and handmade gifts as well as cooking and woodwork demonstrations. As it had started to thunder I hung around for a while until I could make it back to the monorail without getting drenched.
Back in Chow Kit, Fairoz met me and showed me around her new place. It is a simple apartment with 4 rooms but already 6 people staying there. They insisted I stay for dinner, which was a lovely chicken and rice dish. I arranged to meet Fairoz tomorrow morning and headed back before it got dark.
