Good evening from Kualar Lumpur!
So yesterday was my last full day in KK and I decided to spend it chilling around the city and picking up some last minute gifts. Having explored a few of the back markets I had missed over the last five weeks I picked up some new sunglasses (having broken/lost all three pairs I brought with me) and a couple of pau for lunch.
After lunch I got some postcards to leave at the hostel for Emma and Nadiah and spent the afternoon writing them before heading out to dinner with Jackie and her newly-arrived friend Chole. As it was my last night we went back to my favourite Indian to enjoy a curry before heading to the cinema for HARRY POTTER!!
After a quick photo with the sign (sad I know), we took our seats and settled down for the last chapter of HP and the Deathly Hallows (with no pesky adverts to delay it). It was a brilliant conclusion to the films and inspired me to re-read the final book again, which luckily I have on my iphone. Unsurprisingly then I have spent most of my free time today reading it!
It was a sad day today as I packed up to leave Lavender Lodge for the final time. I said my goodbyes to everyone, got some last minute photos and headed to the airport for my lunchtime flight. I slept all the way in the air but perked enough to experience the hour long bus ride from the airport to the city. I got dropped at KL Sentral where I caught the monorail to Chow Kit just a 5 minute walk from my hostel, although with my bag it took more like 10.
Situated on the fourth floor, Cosmopolitan Hostel has a modern feel and friendly staff (and thankfully a lift for getting my bag all the way up). I was kindly offered some dinner by two guests cooking in the kitchen and it was undoubtably the hottest thing I have even eaten. It was some sort of spicy rice and vegetables but I had to shovel it down in order to minimise the tears it brought to my eyes. Several hours later and I can still feel the heat!
Just chilling in the lounge now watching 'Soul Surfer' with some of the other guests, looking forward to exploring the city this weekend before starting at work on Monday.
