Hi,
The Salt Flats trip from Chile to Bolivia was incredible. We saw crazy coloured lagoons with hundreds of flamingos, smoking volcanos, weird rock formations and miles and miles of white nothing. On the last day we drove straight accross the salt, it was like being at sea. There was nothing apart from tiny islands on the horizon. We even stayed in a salt hotel where the building, beds, tables and chairs were made of blocks of salt!
We stayed in a small Bolivian town for a couple of days waiting for the train. We´re now in La Paz, the highest capital city in the world (3660m), although that´s nothing compared to the 5000m above sea level at the salt flats. La Paz is crazy, it´s built in a massive gorge. We´re pretty paranoid here, heard some horrible stories about fake taxi drivers. It´s pretty poor as well, probably the poorest country we´ve seen so far which is so strange as it borders Chile - one of the mosty developed and expensive countries we´ve visited.
We leave La Paz for Lake Titicaca tomorrow - the highest lake in the world, I think. Everything´s the highest something around here.
