I have decided I love camping!! I know Ween is always wondering what will happen next when I ring him - a stray dog needing arranging to be brought back, yet another electric shock, me ringing him in the UK in tears because I'm lost. And so it goes on. I was getting away with things a bit more here apart from the collapsed tent but the other night I went out in the night for a wee and walked into a tree. Twice. I was happily squatting when I felt it rain down my nose - I wipe my face - still raining in my tent which was strange. Look down with my head torch and I'm covered in blood. 1 sock, a t-shirt and most of my wet wipes later, I have stopped the bleeding enough to steristrip it. Went back out in the morning to take a photo of the b****** and walked into it again.
My internal thermostat being constantly set on 400c doesn't help here as everyone else shivers in their sleeping bags, I'm lying naked on top of mine hoping nobody barges into the tent asking for more carrots to be chopped or peas to be shelled. I have worked out though that Ween and Di don't realise you don't have to fold up your sleeping bag for hours but can just push and shove it in with just about a third hanging out like a prolapse.
We've been in lots of different desert habitats - sand dunes, scrub, gravel, meteorite land. We pass nothing for days except for hour on hour of flat seabed plains, then the car stops suddenly to take a picture of an old tyre. We have a picnic lunch every day sheltering under a tree in 32c. Yesterday's was just sorted when we heard loads of tanks and gunfire and we were in the middle of a military manoeuvre 😂. Two locals were killed a few hours before us yesterday as well, driving over a land mine- there are shell casings scattered around. A missile rocket was found, passed around and then casually tossed over the fire to the sand behind.
i love it here!
