One advantage of being menopausal, fat and 56 is that no-one takes any notice of you now. So it was that last night saw me confidently striding out of the hotel with no map, no street name and the wrong hotel name in my head. I ended up on the Boulevard next to the beach with no one around except groups of lads and some children kicking an old shoe around. There don't seem to be any women around here, least of all one wandering around with a Moomin t-shirt on. It was very pretty but very windy down there. The village is all blue and white houses. I had a vague recollection that my hotel was down the road from the hospital but got a bit confused when I passed a lighthouse on the way back which definately wasn't there before. As I had no money on me and my missionary sandals on I wasn't too concerned so carried on striding out and all was well after about erm, 2 hours .....
Today has seen us going further down the coast, past little fisherman's shacks - think Beachy Head cliffs and shacks about 2 feet away from the cliff face. We drove along the beach in the sea which was a bit scary, especially as the driver miscalculated and we were nearly swept away. At least the car is clean. At the end, in the middle of nowhere was another shack where we had fresh fish cooked over coals in the rain.
