Hârșova (also spelled Hîrșova; is a town located in Constanta County, Romania. The relationship between the current name of Hârșova and the ancient name of the city, Carsium has long been a matter of debate among historians and linguists. This was an ancient centre of Getaean origin on the right bank of the Danube. It commands a shallow spot in the river which served as an important ford for merchandise for the Wallachian plain from Histria and the other colonies. Carsium was a fort built in the Roman province of Moesia in the 1st century CE.
