We made it to Tulum in the comforts of the air conditioned bus and made our way to the hostel. Awesome hostel!! Clean rooms, amazing vibe, lush gardens with plenty of swinging hammocks and a couple of dogs and a kitten wandering around to keep you company.
Another plus was the free bike hire to get around the town. Pretty much everyhting is a fair while from the beach and the bike ride there was around 6 km and under the Mexican sun it can be a little full on, however once we reached the beach it was all worth it!! As I mentioned in the last blog, AWESOME season (as we like to call it) provided us again with amazing weather and tourist free beaches.
We spent the first day riding through town and then heading to the beach where we found an awesome spot to set up camp and enjoy the rays. That night we stumbled across a cool bar owned by an Italian guy. Here we enjoyed a couple yummy cocktails and a free pizza.
The next day we got up early and headed off on an adventure through Tulum. We rode our bikes along the highway towards the cenotes. We chose the Grand Cenote to explore and here we enjoyed snorkling in the cool fresh water. The cenote was amazing!!! On the surface it looked like a small hole however once in you could dive 20 m down where you could see underwater stalactites and a few fish. To get to the other side we had to go through a narrow cave and here we watched small bats and birds chase each other in the dark.
Refreshed and ready for another long bike ride, we headed off to see the Tulum Mayan ruins. Wow....these were beautiful. Amazing ruins set amongst lush grass and with a backdrop of the turquoise ocean. Just stunning.
The next day we checked out of the hostel at 11 however our bus wasnt leaving until midnight which was a bit of a hassle so we hung around the hostel, cooked some dinner and played cards with a funny Polish girl named Kasia (not as gorg as my Kash though).
Finally midnight ticked closer so we left the hostel, said our farewells to the gorgie animals and headed towards the bus station in persuit of Belize.
To sum up, Lex and I enjoyed every minute of Mexico and we'd love to come back one day to explore some more!!! Adios Mexico!!
