Got up and heather had been throwing up all night and really didn't feel great so decided not to do the temples today. Had some breakfast and then the man from the hotel room us in his tuktuk to see the floating village.
Cambodia is a really beautiful place, so flat, you can see for miles in all directions. It is the start of the rainy season here so the rice paddies were all flooded.
Got to the place and got on a long boat with a guide, he was really good, knew loads of information and spoke really good English. He let us all have a go at driving the boat!
The floating village is crazy, literally people living on the river. In the dry season, there is no water there at all and it is just a road, but during the rainy season it reaches 12 metres deep! There are shops and a police station and even a basketball course floating on the river! The people have to move house about 8 times a year depending on the depth of the water!
Saw a crocodile farm and held another snake and then they took us to buy rice for the kids at the orphanage and the school! We went to visit the floating orphanage, so sad, so many children living there because of the war killing their parents. Some of them have to wear life jackets because they can't swim. We sat and played games with them and they showed us around. Was really sad, wanted to take them home!!
Went to another school and spoke to the teacher there who was telling us what they learnt there. Really interesting to see and we sat and did some English with them!
Then got in a kayak and was paddled through the mangroves, was a good time to do it because next month they would be completely covered in water! It was so beautiful and peaceful!! Saw some more floating villages and got a beer from a floating shop! Such a lovely trip! Everyone here is so lovely and friendly!
Headed back to the hotel to check on heather and then sunbathed on my balcony before the storm started! Went to try some Cambodian food for tea, was so nice but blew my head off, so spicy!! Then went to pub street! Like a mini Bang La Road! Was on the Long Island ice teas again and shots of absinthe (oh dear!)
