As we have spent quite alot of time in queensland we needed to start working our way down south so we decided just to spend two days and one night in Brisbane. The first thing on our list of things to do was to check out the CBD and then find a mini lap top. We had managed to get 26 virus's from a computer in Singapore affecting all our software from cameras to USB's and we were sick and tired of using unsecure computers so decided to get our own. Luckily we had our pics professionally retrieved but for a while there we were in utter panic mode haha, but it did come at a price! Once we had sorted that Erika and I went shopping while Chris watched a band out in the city centre as there was a music festival going on, which kept the peace! Later we crossed to Brisbane River to South Bank Parklands, a nice wooded area along the western coast of the river with Lawns, a large lagoon, eateries, and small patches of rainforest. It was a really pleasant area and very popular for picnicing and weekend entertainment for the locals. We were gutted that we didn't have our togs to go for a swim in the lagoon however as it was scorching, so we settled for an icecream instead. After our previous nights out in Noosa it was time to chill out and re-couperate so we all finished the day off with a swim in he hostel pool and then a trip to the movies and a cheap homemade curry from a local cafe, gorgeous and great to get some veggies in us!! While here it was our priority to go to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the worlds largest Koala sanctuary as we hadn't seen any yet. They had over 130 Koala's, as well as kangaroos, wombats, tasmanian devils , possums and dingoes etc. The koala's were the cutest things I have ever seen, they just sat there cuddling the tree. Every so often they would move, yawn and replace themselves into a more comfy position. They actually sleep about 20 hours a day as the Eucalpytus leaves dont give them that much energy! The koala presentation was also great as you got to get up close and stroke the little critters. While here we also got to hand feed the Kangaroo's, which was so great, Chris fitted right in with the Emu and the kangaroos seemed so relaxed around us just nibbling out of our hands. We also watched an eagle show and farm dog presentation, where we were shown how they heard sheep into Pens showing demonstrations. The male dog was a right viscious little things climbing all over the sheep and biting their bums, no wonder they are petrified of the sheep dogs! After Erika and I got to hold the cutest little chicks and then platted a small pony's hair to get it out of his eyes! He looked adorable!! haha. That afternoon we got some jobs done around the city and then headed for Surfers Paradise on the 6.00pm bus. We had heard mixed views about this place so we were intrugued to make up our own opinion!! xx
