Hello my lovelies!!
Right, so we left rainy Sydney and started on our way up north, to Byron Bay! Here it continued to rain for two days!! So we chilled out alot in our hostel, with the teenagers! At 25 i've never felt so old. Byron was nice, good atmoshpere, but mainly a beach town, and they arent the greatest places to be when it doesn't stop raining!
So after two days, we left and headed for Brisbane.
Brisbane was a nice City, the sun came out to play and it felt nice to get a bit of vitamin D!! We explored the city, and relaxed in the botanical gardens! We stayed in a really homely hostel, and outside our room lived the hugest spider ever, nothing incy wincy about this bad boy!
From Brisbane we went up to Noosa!
Jon and i loved Noosa. It was the kind of beach town you would imagine, if you were trying to picture Oz. Lovely beach, lots of cool little shops and loads of surfer dudes!! ha ha!
So we tried our hardest to get in the swing to the layed back surfer lifestyle and spent our time on the beach, with some new freinds, Alan and Stine.
We could borrow boards from our hostel and on our first day there, ventured out in to the sea to give this surfing malarky a whirl! It was amusing! Ha! I (Kate) managed to stand up first go, yes i am boasting!! sorry. Jon, after a lesson and some practise also got up and rode the waves!! It was brilliant! And now we are a little bit hooked!
From Noosa, up to Hervy bay ready for our two day trip to Fraser island, which is the largest sand island in the world! We got picked up bright and early and got on the barge to cross the water over to Fraser. Once on the island, we met our little group and boarded our 4x4 bus! We walked through the rainforest, up and down some pretty creeks and had a dip in the little pools that are formed along the beach front. We also got a ride in a tiny plane, and got a birds eye view of the island! It was very cool, landing and taking off on the sandy beach.
We also saw the shipwreck, which has been there for about 80 years after it had been caught in a cyclone on its way to Japan. We saw Dingo's (dog like wolves), checked out lake Mckenzie, where we exfoliated with the very fine, salf free sand, and induldged ourselves in the all you can eat buffet meal!! Roast lamb, mint jelly and apple crumble with custard! YUM.
Now back in Hervey Bay, its raining, to make a change, so we are off to 1770, another small beach town, for hopefully more surfing and sunshine!
Hope your all ok, miss you all lots.
Kate and Jon xxx
