Hello!!
Sorry its been so long! Right, we left 1770 after another day of practising our surfing and headed up Airlie beach, ready for our sailing trip around the Whitsundays!
Airlie beach was a nice town to hang out in, with a beautiful lagoon by the beach for swimming in, as you can't swim in the sea up north!
We boarded our boat, the Waltzing Matilda, which was the original boat for the first ever sailing trips around the Whitsundays. We met our crew and fellow passengers and loved every minute.
We were so lucky and had the most perfect weather for the two days, so we got to see the famous Whitehaven beach in the sunshine! We snorkled to see the coral and the multicoloured fish and spent a couple of hours relaxing on a coral beach!
Once we were back on dry land, we joined our new sailing buddies for a few drinks and some shape throwing! A really lovely bunch!
Next stop, Cairns, where we decided we would stay for 5 nights and chill! The weather, once again, wasn't the greatest but we met up with our Noosa friends Alan and Stine for a little road trip up to Cape Tribulation. Along the way we stopped to go Crocodile searching, to get a glimpse of croc's in the wild! We saw two babies and a big mumma! Further up, we stopped at a very pretty blue lake, where we saw baby turtles swimming!! Very cute! We drove through the rainforest until we arrived at Cape tribulation, which is where Captain Cook, was very grumpy after discovering problems with his ship!!
Off to Melbourne next to stay with Jon's Great Aunt, who he hadn't seen since he was just a baby! Aunty Myra put us up at her lovely house for 4 nights. Brenda and Jess, who were visiting Jon's parents last year had plans to keep us busy whilst in Melbourne. The night we arrived we went to Jessies dance night, to watch some fantastic dancing and even embarassed our selves by joining in! ha! The second night, we went to watch OZY rules footie!! Jess, Brenda, and Myra are all die hard Richmond Tiger fans, luckily they won!! There was a brilliant atmosphere, and Jon and i were both getting well into it, cheering with the crowds!
Melbourne city was great, full of character, with the lanes, graffiti and great shopping.
We also hired a car and drove some of the great Ocean road. We drove up to the 12 Aposciles, which were really stunning, stopping off for fish and chips along the way!!
We loved our stay in Melbourne and was completely spoilt by Jon's relies, we even had roast lamb cooked for us!! A Big big thankyou to the Carr's!!
Well, that was Australia!!! Short but sweet!! Off to Bali!!
