Hello again! ha!
Back to busy travelling again now so more frequent blogs! Sorry! ha!
Ok, so we left Pushkar and got a couple of different trains to Jodhpur. Whilst sat at one station, we watched a poor hungry cow munching some tasty newspaper in the middle of the train tracks, poor old cow! Anyway, whilst we waited in the baking heat, we were gorped at again by nearly everyone on the platform, some stares are harmless and smiles are returned, however some are full blown looks up and down, leaving us feeling a bit uncomfortable, especially when they laugh at us!
The train journeys were good and fairly short, we were given some random fruit by a really lovely family, who were keen to shake hands and say hello.
We have had the most random converstaions in India with the locals, the most recent was a guy working on the train, who sat himself down with us, and began to discuss his photo collection of some accient British royals, which he reckoned he was trying to sell at Christies or Sothebys!
Anyway, we got to Jodhpur and was greeted by our lovely guesthouse owners on the station platform. We then squeezed into a rickshaw and drove mentally along the small alleys and roads of Jodhpur city!
Eventually we arrived safely at the guesthouse and before we knew it we were being dressed up in full Indian attire by our hosts, mama Hem and Rishi's lovely wife, ready for the festival dancing in town! We were joined by a lovely Portugese couple and a nice bloke from Norwich!! The dressing up was brilliant and the dancing perfomances were so colourful!
Brilliant night! The next day we were up fairly early and walked up to the fort which was stunning. So detailed and really beautiful with the views of the blue painted buildings below.
We Explored town and wandered through the busy streets, and chilled back at the guesthouse, getting to know the family some more. Rishi and his wife had a beautiful little girl, who would crawl through to see us in our room and play. Our last evening at the guesthouse was lovely, Mama Hem gave me a saree, dressed me up in it and we all had photo's taken together, my Indian Mama she said she was!! We chatted with Vipin (Rishi's brother) about his Mama finding him a wife and our different ways of life, we were also given 'pan' to try, this was a random breath freshener parcel, a packed leaf filled with different spices, the idea is to bite a bit off and hold in the side of your mouth and suck the juices out. Jon and i hadn't realised this began chewing on this random combination, making us gag a bit, Vipin looked confused when we said we wasn't sure about it, hope we didn't offend him! It was really lovely and we felt part of the family for our short stay.
Now in Jaipur.
Lots of love xxx
