The christmas festivities are well under way here and cheesy christmas jumpers abound! We went to the opening of the Bury St Edmunds Christmas "Fayre" Thursday night. The square and the cobble-stoned mall were all lit up with fairy lights for the lantern parade and there were real full size pine christmas trees decorated in the centre. Today saw the lovely Arc du Triomphe, Sacre Coeur in the sunshine and the Moulin Rouge. Highlight was visiting the Louvre. Zoe and I got front row view of the Mona Lisa.... so special...unbelievable! Kids had a ball playing on a blasting air vent and making their toys "float". Not quite Marylin Monroe style! Dont want to think about what germs they probably inhaled! After much debate over the astronomical costs involved, again having our pre booking of tickets lost and a 1 hour queue ...we finally walked through the gates into the magical Disneyland. Phew!! Had a lovely first proper day in Paris. Beautiful weather. After a decadent buffet breakfast we headed straight to Versailles to see the palace and amazing hall of mirrors and then had lunch in the sculptured gardens. Well despite multiple dramas- we've finally arrived in our hotel in Paris. Has been a series of complication after complication to get here from lost bookings to triple bookings to car overheating meaning missed train etc etc but we're here. 4 hours sleep with a 4am start and exhausted but the sun is shining and hoping the troubles are behind us now! Baguets and brie and a little French wine helping raise spirits!
