Happiness Is The Road
When we got up this morning the cattle truck had gone. As we were up late we decided to have breakfast on the road. We stopped at the IGA supermarket first to stock up and then went to the Blowhole which was at Bicheno. We found a spot at the side of the road overlooking the blowing area and had a lovely breakfast. After brekky we wandered down onto the rocks and got up close to the action. This was a magnificent blowhole, an awesome sight. The water came through and properly blew through the hole in the rock. We got some brilliant photos. After this we drove down the coast to Freycinet National Park about an hour and a half away. When we got there we went into the Visitor Centre and enquired about the camp ground at Ric*******s Beach. The guide books all stated that due to it's popularity over the summer months it would probably be full. Luckily we got a site and it had power and hot showers. It was only $16 as well. We then went for a walk at Cape Tourville within the National Park. There was a lighthouse here and the scenery was stunning. There were markers on the floor showing the sizes of different mammals. I am just longer than a New Zealand Fur Seal but not as long as an Australian one. We then went for another walk to Sleepy Beach. When we got there we had it all to ourselves and it was lovely. We sat on the rocks and admired the view. The coastal scenery with the lovely orange rocks was fantastic. Whilst sat there we saw some big crabs come creeping out of a rock pool. After a while more and more people arrived making loads of noise and ruining the ambience. Why do people have to be so noisy in such beautiful places?? People don't half get on our nerves! We then went to find the camp ground and it was lovely and right on a great beach. We went and sat there for ages reading and messing about. Later on we saw wallabies and on our way to the ablutions we saw a Possum. It was a funny thing about the size of a domestic cat and it was scavenging around the bin area trying to get stuff. We got talking to the couple camped next to us and their kids. They were really nice and told us loads about Australian animals and insects. We went to bed with it all quiet on the possum front.
