Happiness Is The Road
The kangaroos had all gone to bed by the time I got up this morning. I needed to change my gas bottle first thing as it had run out last night. I found out that the shop next to the camp site did refills so I headed over there. They could indeed do a refill for me. I was told it would take 30 minutes but that wasn't a problem. The shop was also a cafe so I sat out front whilst I waited and had a coffee. All gassed up I headed over to Coffin Bay National Park which was just a few kilometres out of town. My Camps Guide had suggested a camp site here and I planned to stay there tonight if it was okay. The National Park was stunning, the best scenery I'd seen since leaving Western Australia. I checked out the camp ground at Yangie Bay and it was pretty good, just pit toilets but that was fine. I decided to go back there later. I went to Almonta beach which was beautiful white sand and big crashing waves. I sat here for a while and had a good laugh reading about Dom Joly's monster hunting adventures. I also went to the lookout points and marvelled at the beauty of the Southern Ocean. On my drive back over to Yangie Bay a couple of emus crossed the road right in front of me. I took a photo of them as they strutted off into the bush. They are funny animals. At Yangie Bay I found a good camp spot. There were a few bees here but I didn't think much of it and went for a lovely walk along the bay. The weather was nice and sunny today. I heard rustling noises from the bush on my walk and was joined in parts by hopping kangaroos. The bay is just beautiful. It was a good walk, about 6 kilometres. When I got back to the camp there were more bees. I noticed on the National Park leaflet that bees may frequent camp sites, this was an understatement! I was holed up in the camper deciding whether to stay or go when a guy from the park police came over to check how everything was. We talked about the pesky bees. He thought that something should be done about them as they were putting campers off. He said that they'd start to go soon so I decided to stay. I sat out the bee onslaught for a while and soon the buzzing died down. I was then free to sit out with a beer and make my tea. As it was Sunday I had bacon and eggs, yummy! As there was no light pollution here the night sky was brilliant, not as awesome and clear as at Lucky Bay but still pretty good. I took some photos into the dark and got loads of orbs! The spirit energies are definitely liking keeping me company.
Went to sleep looking up through the window at the stars and to the scuffling sound of kangaroos nearby, wonderful.
