Happiness Is The Road
After some chilly nights at Murramarang National Park it had been a hot and humid one. We did get a bit of sleep though with the help of our trusty fan who we can rely on to blast a little cool air on such nights. There hadn't been as much wildlife here but we did see a couple of roos hopping past. After brekky we had another walk along the beautiful white beach near the camp ground and then drove further into the National Park to Murrays Beach. We had a walk from here to the Governor Head lookout and then we went and chilled for ages and soaked up the sun on Murrays Beach. This was an even more idyllic beach than the one near the camp site. When we were all beached out we drove to the Booderee Botanic Gardens in the middle of the park. We had a mooch around here but not for long as we were both absolutely knackered from lack of sleep. We decided to hit the road and get to Kangaroo Valley where we intended to stay a couple of nights. We drove through Nowra where we stopped to find a ATM and then we headed further inland to Kangaroo Valley. There was a very steep and winding road full of hair pin bends to get up and down into the valley. The valley was very beautiful and very green. It is one of the greenest places we hav seen on our travels. They must get a lot of rain here to keep it looking so lush. The weather today though was dry with a clear blue sky. It was hot and very humid. The first camp site we came to at Kangaroo Valley town was full due to the Australian Caravan Club taking it over but the nice lady on reception directed us to another camp site on the other side of the town. The town is really nice with old buildings and cute little shops. We found the other camp site which was next to the Hampden Bridge. It is a beautiful bridge to look at and is the only surviving suspension bridge from the colonial period in New South Wales. This camp site was very quiet and we got a nice private spot on some very lush green grass. With the name of this town being Kangaroo Valley we had expected the place to be full of roos grazing around the town. Unfortunately this wasn't the case as there were no roos or any evidence of roo activity anywhere. Never mind as it was a lovely place. We just relaxed for the rest of the day and went to bed early and slept like logs.
