Happiness Is The Road
We were quite sad to be leaving Sydney today but no worries as we might be back here again in about a years time. The traffic was very busy as we left Sydney but it wasn't too long until we were on the freeway heading north and towards the Hunter Valley our destination for the day. The Hunter Valley is one of the biggest wine growing regions in Australia. It was dry when we left Sydney but not too long into the journey we saw ominous looking black cloud ahead. It soon started to spit and then rain and then absolutely lash it down. This was the wettest and most horrible conditions I have driven in on the trip so far and I took it very easy. The rain was torrential on and off all the way to Cessnock which is the main service town for the Hunter Valley. At Cessnock we went to Coles and then we went to find the Valley Vineyard Tourist Park where we had decided to spend the night. The park was nice enough and the facilities were lovely and clean but we got a pretty horrible site for the camper. We were sandwiched between the Jumping Pillow and the camp kitchen. It was okay here at first and lovely and quiet. Luckily the jumping pillow was deflated because of the rain but later on loads of irritating people came to use the camp kitchen. There was a snooker table in there and all we could hear all day was the clonk clonk clonk of balls being potted. It drove me loopy! This camp site have got their layout wrong. Who wants to be squashed between the possible noisy hell of a jumping pillow and a load of irritants acting like Chas 'n' Dave around the snooker table. Who's stupid idea was it to put a snooker table there!? We aren't the most tolerant of people and this place just wasn't for us. We had an early night and dreamt of wine. Lesson learnt for the day was to never again accept a site near a camp kitchen.
