Hello again after a bit of a break. I have been riding the bike a lot and visiting small villages with no internet cafes so have been 'off the air' so as to speak. Therefore this is the first of a couple more 'dodgy' blogs ie, I'm not where I say I am. The photo's will have to follow later, I can't put the card reader into this machine either.
Thje last blog was from Oxford. While there I met a man from, Wales who recommended a couple of places in Wales to see. So I set off straight to Wales, hoping to enjoy some more natural sights, having seen enough buildings and reminders of the UK's hideously violent past. They seem to have erected statues to all the men who lead the violence (the winners), thereby perpetuating the memories. I think much of their history would be best forgotten.
That aside My guidebook contained a photo of Carphilly Castle, apparently the second largest in Europe, som rode over to see it. It was built in the 13th century as a military installation (of course) and has been restored over the past couple of hundred years. Certainly an impressive and effective building.
I stayed the night in a guesthouse in Caerphilly, run by a man with three young children going through the pains of separation from his wife (and effectively his children) so I offered him what encouragement I could.
