Hello from (very) sunny Vienna. It's Sunday today and we arrived in Vienna yesterday about lunch time. Of course our arrival here marks the successful completion of the first half of our journey - part 2 of Euro Velo 6.
More pertinent to our journey, our arrival in Vienna means my previous injuries sustained on the crash at Melk, have not significantly hindered our progress. On the contrary, the shoulder brace I now wear makes me more comfortable than ever on the bike. The pain killer tablets have numbed the pain of the seat too!
We rode most of Friday in the rain, through the remainder of the Wachau Valley with it's over loaded Apricot trees and vineyards.
Approaching Tuln in the evening we had ridden about 65 km when in a town called Langensbichl I noticed a "zimmer frei" flag which led us to our best guesthouse yet, 'Pension Theresa'. Only a year old it even had dedicated bike parking underneath. Like much of Europe when we looked out the window all we could see was farmland.
Saturday morning we started late as usual and made the short ride to Tuln. Check put the pic's of the pretty town square.
After another 30 km or so we made it to Vienna where we celebrated our milestone (and Kylie's birthday of course) with lunch at a riverbank restaurant.
After the long lunch we grabbed a hotel room and dropped off our luggage before commencing a cycle tour of central Wien. We really enjoyed the sights and didn't get back to the hotel much before midnight.
This morning i needed supplies from a chemist and was (unpleasantly) surprised to have to spend literally all morning looking for an open chemist shop. The whole place shuts down on Sunday.
We need to keep riding east today and should probably make Slovakia if all goes well. Sandi seems ok but I am pretty tired today and could easily stay put for another day. We'll ride on though and rest later. It's hot now (lunch time) but should cool off into the evening and we can make some distance then.
See you soon.

ANTK Hello "Mr Jeff", firstly - we're so glad you're alive and well. We must warn you though, after reading in your previous blog that you plan on racing against Sandi ... that we have started an official cheer squad for her. So....go Sandi go. He he he:-)
