We took a night train from Munich to Venice, and arrived at 7 in the morning. Since accomodations are so expensive here (even in the crappiest of hostels) we decided not to spend the night and to make the most of one day! Nothing was open that early in the morning, so we just walked through the winding streets and canals to St. Mark's Square. The beautiful basilica, boats in the canal, and the sun just barely up made a great beginning to the day. It was gorgeous! We strolled around for a while, watching the street vendors set up their carts and the shop owners sweeping their sidewalks, and then we found an open cafe and had some delicious capuccino. The rest of the day went pretty much the same....just walking through the tiny streets, getting lost over and over again, eating cannolis and paninis and drinking capuccinos, window shopping and people watching! It was wonderful!
