Well the boat ride was 1000 times better than yesterday! Why? Because I bought a turtle. Yes a turtle! For 10,000kip = $1US = 50p +/- Don't worry, I bought her, Murtle, to set her free. There is absolutely nothing here... just some guest houses for everyone on the slow boat up or down the Mekong, going to Luang Prabang or Huhay Xai respectively. We had about 8 hours to kill on the boat... all wooden bench seats... composed of 2 wooden planks of 2 by 4! "Comfortable" was not a word commonly used! There was an area at the back of the boat which Skinny, Ivan and I used as base camp... we removed the seats and sat on the floor! Much easie...
