Our last three full days in the country passed in a blur of cleaning (darn those kitty cats walking across the freshly mopped floor!), packing (seriously - is our stuff swelling? It weighs more every time we move) and eating (we went to Hollywood for dinner - in fact, The Hollywood Inn, just down the road). First off though, we took our last touristy drive a very short distance up the road on Thursday - only 16 km to Baltinglass and its ruined abbey. More as a reward for having done 99% of the packing that any great urge to see a ruined abby. It was another glorious day - more blue sky and sunshine - but still quite chilly, say 5 degrees mid-afternoon. Pretty old place and a nice jaunt. Friday saw us cleaning like mad things to have the house sparkling for our lovely owners return on Saturday. After almost dropping from the heat during their Australian adventure they were ecstatic to come home to a mild day of 9 degrees. After they had snoozed off a bit of jetlag we went down the road to the tiny town of Hollywood (there was a holy well there once... you can see how the name developed). Lovely pub dinner and James had an entree of 'smokies' - which we were fascinated to learn was smoked haddock in cream and utterly delicious. Was a glorious dinner ideed and we felt very spoiled to be taken out on our final night. Eventually in bed by midnight Saturday (which is very, very late) and trying to have some sleep before our big day enjoying the Christmassy-ness of Dublin.
