So we were up at 5am to head to the Party at Guys Bar that had started 3 hours earlier. The place was pumping and there was every imaginable type from Hippies to tweakers and old school ravers. Although it was interesting to see I wanted the hell out of there - maybe I have grown up or old but this type of party no longer interests me. At about 9am I decided to go find something for breakfast - unfortunately all the prices on the island for everything have been jacked up so I settled on 2 minute noodles.
Now to plan my escape - I can't possibly spend another day here little alone 2 weeks! The beach is located on an isolated part of the island the way back by boat however there is rumored to be a track through the jungle and up over the mountain - the perfect escape. I pack my things leave some $$$ for my friend and make for the jungle. Wow what a mission 6 hours through the jungle walking barefoot as my flip flops kept slipping, easily the steepest inclines I have ever attempted and being stalked by monkeys, dogs and various other creatures. I am not going to lie and say it wasn't scary as it was and I ran out of water half way and do desperately went seeking coconuts and maliciously bludgeoned my way into them for nourishment. Coconut water was incredible and I couldn't drink it quick enough. Walking through the jungle I also came across a number of what I am guessing are pot farmer settlements - I did my best to avoid being seen. So by 7pm I had walked about 15km to where ferry had dropped me off. Next thing to do is find Accomodation - I did some research and found a reasonable priced place close to centre so went and booked in. The first time back in a hostel for about 6 months. Although strange at first I eventually settled in meeting some other Aussies. The rest of the night I planned what I was going to do for Xmas and New Year.
