Markets, Football & Food!! After an expected sleepless night I was up early ready for my trip to the market with Elly. Elly sleapt in a bit but by 10am we were off on the bus to Central Market. The place was chaotic today and just as we arrived the rain started which made all the people scammer inside for cover. Elly was quick to start buying and I figured she wanted in and out of the market as quick as possible so I followed buying some fruits and vegetables along with some dried shrimp and shrimp paste. I lost Elly for nearly an hour and in the end found her out the front waiting near the buses with all her shopping done. We made our way back to her house on the bus and the traffic was mad and took us ages to get back. For lunch Elly was cooking Chinese smoked chicken, fresh shrimp and cabbage stirfry. I watched Elly cook and observed as she used loads of spices, salt, oil to boil the chicken and shrimp and finally adding the cabbage. The dish was absolutely delicious and was served just as the Brazil vs Chile game kicked off. Good food and football - I guess I can't complain. The game went into overtime and then into penalty kick-out which saw Brazil come out as victors - thankfully. Feeling quite stuffed from dinner I decided to go for a walk which to tell the truth is not so pleasant around Ellys as the roads are small and busy and there is no where for pedestrians to walk. The rest of the afternoon I chatted with Elly, surfed the Internet and watched a film. I think 3-4 days in Paramaribo is more then enough so now I am just buying my time. The Mosquitos were out in force again and the heat almost unbearable - looking forward to the Carribean coast and some nice seabreeze.
