The big day has arrived!! I was having a little trouble sleeping as I was excited to be back on the road so at about 3:30am I was awake and getting my things organized. I left the house at about 7am and unfortunately no one was up so I couldn't say goodbye to Elizabeth and her family. I caught the bus into Trujillo and got to the Linea bus terminal where I would be catching a bus to Lima. Luckily I gave myself loads of time as traffic was bad and it took an hour to get in. The bus ride to Lima was brilliant I honestly slept nearly all the way- we stopped for lunch at a roadhouse and I was treated to a couple of huge condors circling above. We arrived into Lima at about 7pm and I made my way along the strip hoping to find a bus company that would take me to Arequipa. Luckily I found a few and settled for the company Civa (who I have travelled with many times). The economical bus was less then $20 for 20 hours of travel - incredible when you think at home 1 hour of travel is $20. I had a few hours to kill so I wondered around the city and found a really nice park. At about 8pm I headed back and much to my disbelief the bus station had been turned into a TV Shoot with film crews, actors and extras running about the place. It was interesting to see but meant all bus departures were delayed - I kind of had the feeling it was for the Amazing Race - as the two main actors were decked out in really flash hiking equipment and accessories. It was quite funny at one point I was standing in what i thought was a line for my bus and everyone started moving towards the bus and cameras and I was like what what - anyways they were all actors and it made me look a bit stupid as I decided not to follow meaning I was left standing in the middle of the shot and all the crew were trying to get me out of shot. Never a dull moment - thankfully they finished shooting and we were finally aloud to board the bus. For an economical standard the bus isn't to bad and it has a toilet so I am happy, 18-20 hours and we should be in Arequipa.
