So it was up early today in order to catch the 8am bus to Ipoh (2 hours) and then catch a bus from Ipoh to Johor Baru (8.5 hrs). Unfortunately I hadn't booked the first bus and the second one was to leave at 10:30am and it was a good walk from bus station.
So with that in mind I was feeling quite uneasy and left the house at 7am.
I managed to get some info at the bus station and caught the correct bus to Ipoh - I had asked the bus driver to stop at a certain point so I could try make other bus on time 'no no must catch Taxi'. Just as 10am ticked over we hit Ipoh and traffic was bad and guess what he was letting all the locals off along the way but not me? Bigger this I thought I put my two packs on and when we hit traffic lights I demanded he let me off 'no no' but creating a scene he buckled and let me off. A race to the bus stop followed - when I arrived there was nothing no bus no stop - s***, I asked a shop owner and thankfully he new the service and I was on the right road but had turned the wrong way at the lights. I bolted down the road and caught the bus just in time - running into the office I was not only met with a lovely smile and a greeting to my name, an offer to use their toilet and when I left a bottle of water. So after a stressful start to the day a nice positive note and a nice mood is set for the rest of the day.
The bus journey was quite long but very comfortable and we arrived by 5pm - 2 hours earlier then expected. It did rain all the way and with the aircon all the way I did freeze on the bus.
My host Macy came to pick me up and wow she is so nice, first thing she did was insist on taking me out to dinner, I really didn't want her too but made the deal that I would cook for her in return.
We went to a lovely Indian resteraunt and she ordered up chicken teriyaki, lentil soup, vegetable masala and fried rice all served on a banana leaf. What a meal and like always I ate too much - they really order up way too much food here and I can't let it go to waste now. After dinner we headed back to Macy's place and dropped of my things and then headed into the city for the night market.
The market was quite interesting with lots of various stalls selling various goods, foods and trinkets. We wondered around for a few hours before making our way back after midnight.
