Open Water Dives to 18m!! Today was a very early start and by 7am we were on the dock setting up our gear ready for our 7:30am departure. Unfortunately I woke up with a dodgey stomach again an a bout of diarrhea which is the last thing you want before going diving. I decided it was best to take some Imodium (which I never do) as today's dives are the last part involved in obtaining my open water dive certification. We headed out to the dive spot which was only a 5 minute boat ride away, geared up and got in. Today I am even more comfortable and after doing our checks and a few safety activities we were off down to 18m. The further I went down the more comfortable I felt and we got to see some amazing sealife which included this beautiful eagle ray that was gliding through the deep water. I really wanted to see a Grey nurse shark but unfortunately we didn't spot any this time round. The dive lasted over an hour and then it was back to the boat to change tanks and do a briefing. It wasn't long and we were back in the water and back down to about 15m. Once again there was lots of little sealife and beautiful reef but I really wanted to see something big. I still don't know if I am really hooked on this whole diving thing yet; I like it but it seems like a very expensive and time consuming hobby to be involved in. When we returned to the dock we were all very happy as we are now fully qualified open water divers and can dive upto 18m. The best thing though for me was the fact my stomach held up ok and I made it through the dives. I made a huge lunch of guocamole, tortillas and omelette and relaxed at the apartment with a plan to just relax the rest of the day. There was a shop dinner and free rum at the office tonight but I decided to give it a miss preferring to have some time to myself - something I rarely get the opportunity to do.
