Today I have no real plan but to rest after two big days visiting the Falls. I haven't been sleeping well because of the hot nights and all the Mosquitos and unfortunately lastnight was no exception. I decided to go for a bit of a walk in the morning and as the sun was out; found a nice park to sit, write my blog and get some sunshine. For lunch I tried to eat light because tonight Sheila is taking me to a very typical Brazilian All-you can eat buffet and from what I have heard I will have the opportunity to try many different a cuts of beef, chicken, feasant, rabbit and every other thing you can imagine. To say I am excited about tonight is a huge huge understatement - the fact I will get to try so many different typical Brazilian foods and that my wonderful host Sheila is treating me to such an experience is beyond words. I tried to relax in the afternoon and took the time to catch some more sun and work out a bit of a plan for Brazil. I put on a nice shirt, cleaned myself up and waited for Sheila to finish work. We arrived at the Churriscaria and were greeted by the guy at the door and offered a seat and so it begun: The very unique All you can eat BBQ. First we started at the cold buffet table which had all kinds of salads, vegetables and beans, next were dressings, seeds, oats and spices - next the warm area with roasted potatoes, fried chicken, fried fish, burgers, roast beef, vegetable casseroles and everything else you can imagine. To think that this was just the side or starters and the real star of the meal hasn't even begun, so after piling one plate we headed back to our seats and ordered some drinks. What followed was waiters bringing around various cuts of meat on long skewers which included pheasant, pork, beef, lamb, chicken, sausage and everything else. The star of this meatapalooza is picanha, a top prime sirloin that melts in your mouth. But there's a big supporting cast - alcatra (top sirloin), baby beef, filet mignon, file com alho (filet mignon with garlic), maminha (rump steak), costela de Ripa (beef short ribs), and pork loin. A number of the cuts like the pork loin were wrapped and cooked in cheese and others wrapped and cooked in bacon. I can not describe how mouth watering delicious nearly every cut was from the pheasant to the chees coated pork loins and my absolute favorite the sirloin wrapped in bacon and the chicken hearts. I couldn't stop myself and the waiters started laughing as they could see I was more then enjoying myself and would suffer for it tommorow. To make things harder the fried fish, burgers and salads were also delicious and I couldn't stop eating them either. The meat is absolutely drenched in salt which unfortunately not only makes you bloat but incredibly thirsty - so whilst my body was saying no more food it was begging for water. The waiters also brought out this roasted pineapple coated in cinnamon that also melted in your mouth and was the perfect ending to the onslaught of food. My stomach was in serious pain, my body was shaking from the excess of meat and salt but was I happy? Hell yes and if I could of squeezed one more piece in I would have. The price was very reasonable at about $10 specially seen you could eat as much as you liked. I then talked Sheila into going for a bit of a walk in the city in the hope I could digest some of the food - we walked down the Main Street which was nice and great because there was not so many people around. After a good walk we headed back to the house, chatted some more and then called it a night.
