I forgot to mention yesterday that one of the most memorable things about Dubai are the flowers that are everywhere along the roads. Mainly petunias in great swathes of the same colour. It looks gorgeous.
Today we started by having a dhow boat trip around the creek. It was so relaxing and we were able to see all the old boats more clearly. Moored along the creek are very old wooden boats that are used to transport cargo often to India and Pakistan. How these boats survive the journey I am not sure.
We then hopped back on the bus and went to the Dubai Mall. The Mall is huge and all the shops are grouped by type which is a good idea. We had a drink in a cafe overlooking the lake where the musical fountains are and they performed as we were sitting there. Very clever!
Next we went to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. It was brilliant. Everything in Dubai is done brilliantly.
As the sun was beginning to set we had a meal in the same restaurant and were able to see the fountains twice more but with lights. Absolutely spectacular.
As the bus went back along its way we were amazed by all the lights on the palm trees and the different ways of lighting buildings. Everything here has been planned perfectly.
We are now at the airport waiting for our flight which doesn't leave till 2:50 in the morning. I have my coat ready for when we get back. Such a shame we won't be feeling the warm sun we have had for so long.
