Today we set off at 8am from Hoabart and drove the east coast trail back to Launceston. We were driving most of the day but we managed to see wuite a lot of eastern Tamania.
The countryside varied from rolling farmland to dense forests to coastal scenery. There was a lot of up anddown and negotiating bendy roads! There was very little traffic but an amazing amount of roadkill - wallabies, possums, tassie devils and others we didn't know. However we did see a real live echidna on the side of the road but couldn't stop to take a photo as there was another car right behind.
Bicheno on the coast was a lovely place. Here there are huge flat rocks on the coast with a blowhole (see photo). It was difficult to capture it as it was blowing but you can see a little bit.
We also passed through some logging towns which consisted of a few well spaced out, very old houses.
Unfortunately there was a lot of cloud on the mountain tops with rain so we couldn't appreciate the scenery as much as we would have liked and didn't take as many photos as we had hoped.
When we got back we met up with my cousin who had flown over from Newcastle near Sydney to see us and his dad(my uncle). It was good to catch up on all the news.
Tomorrow we fly back to Perth which involves a short flight back to Melbourne, a four hour wait and then a flight to Perth. We arrive back about 3:15pm but four hours earlier than we leave Melbourne!
