This morning we set off at 8:30 to drive to Kings Canyon. When we arrived there were already lots of cars and coaches and it was about 38C. The canyon was beautiful but it was just too hot to walk very far. Some people were walking up a rock to do the rim walk which looked extremely exhausting. This walk has to be started before 9:00 if the temperature is going to be above 38C!! We walked along the bottom for a little while and for all the cars we didn't see any people! After half an hour we had had enough so set off on our drive back to Alice Springs. We stopped at several roadhouses for drinks and eventually got back at 4:30.
Tomorrow we take the camper van back and fly to Sydney. My opinion of camper canning. Well you have probably guessed - 3 days was ok but I don't think I would want to do it again. As for mick he thought it was great!

Jenny Predictable over who would want to 'camp a van' again. However June you only THINK that you wouldn't do it again. Do it in the Lakes or Scotland during a rainy period and you would KNOW! Having said that did enjoy it in my 'younger days'. Safe flight to Sydney. We have had our own excitement here this morning with the partial eclipse of the Sun. It was very cloudy so there was no chance of having eyes damaged by looking at the event. However it did become darker and colder. The TV showed the event in different parts of the country and it was clearer.
Carol Fantastic eclipse up here in Lincolnshire it was impossible to view beacause of lovely sunshine we were so lucky. It went very dark for quite a few minutes the girls liked it. Love reading up what you are tackling each day. Never thought I would hear you say you are too hot!
