Well this is it - the final blog of my travels! Can´t believe my 8 months is over but I am so excited about going home!! My last few days in Lima were interesting... went out for our last GAP supper on Sunday night to a fancy restaurant - and got food poisoning!!!!!!!!! So typical that in 8 months of eating in the dodgiest, cheapest places (including eating various insects!) and the one time I go to a fancy expensive restaurant I get poisoned by the tuna!! Was up all night and felt like absolute crap on Monday and so spent the day sitting in a cafe sipping coke and feeling very sorry for myself! Was such a shame as it was my last full day of my travels but it was nice chilling with Laerke and Mark and I got lots of attention! Had been planning on treating myself to a fancy hotel for my final night but Laerke had booked into a nearby hostel in Miraflores and as I wanted company and to be looked after I went with her. What a mistake that was!!!!!!!! Stayed in probably the worst hostel of my entire travels called Stop and Drop (do NOT stay there!) although the name was appropriate considering my state of health! The place was so filthy, the bedspreads were flourescent and the owner was a complete sleaze who offered free dental check ups from his cousin!! The decor was of the London underground so I thought it was pretty fitting for my last night and a pretty good way to say goodbye forever to hostels!! Woke up this morning feeling so much better and have had a lovely day with Laerke. We had a chilled out morning in Starbucks and then got a very crazy public bus to Plaza San Martin and then walked to Plaza de Armas which was lovely but so similar to other plazas in Peru! Lima is a pretty nice place but I am definitely ready to leave. Getting my taxi to the airport in 30 minutes and am feeling a bit emotional but I am ready to go home. Bye!!!!!!!!! xx
