Well this is it, the final blog! Arrived back home yesterday and it was so lovely to be greeted by Mum, Dad and Tom at the airport complete with balloons and a banner!! Felt so emotional leaving Lima but was definitely ready to leave tip hungry Peru and the last insult was them confiscating my fig jam at the airport!!! Had really mixed feelings on the plane back but when I arrived back at Heathrow and saw everyone it was brilliant.
It is my first day back to reality and I am feeling positive but pretty strange. Thought I would be so excited seeing everything that I had missed i.e my clothes, belongings etc but they feel very alien to me and it is almost like I left those things behind for a reason. I'm sure it will take a few days to adjust. I did enjoy Marmite on toast for breakfast though! Have lots of plans to catch up with friends and family and am prepared for the inevitable on 15th June - work!
So I guess it is finally time to conclude this 8 month journey. I have had the most incredible, undescribable, life changing experience and I am so sad that it has come to an end but it is only the start of the adventure and I am so excited to plan the next one! It has been emotional, with incredible highs like skydiving, the inca trail, giving blood in Cambodia and real lows like my break up with Dave, feeling lonely and spending Xmas away from my family. I have eaten bugs, made lifelong friends, shared laughs and tears, learnt new languages (well kind of!), danced with the natives and piloted a stunt plane! It has been emotionally, physically and mentally draining but I loved every second and I wouldn't change it for the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
