We ventured into Darling Harbour en masse via the light rail to find the Thailand Grand Festival 2014 was happening in Tumbalong Park. The children had their picnic lunch and then the three of us headed into the Thai food stalls to pick up some lunch. I also had an odd drink with coconut milk and mixed jelly.
After the kids had tired themselves out by playing in the water and sandpit they headed home whilst I went to the Chinese Garden of Friendship. This traditional Chinese garden based on the principles of yin yang was an incredibly tranquil escape in a busy city. I wandered around and spent some time sitting in the shade overlooking the tea house.
As we've previously established, I'm not one for heights, so the thought of climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge was not something I entertained, plus it's prohibitively expensive. I walked through town up George Street, skated around the back of the Rocks to the path over the bridge. When walking you are effectively in a cage and there were four security guards along the way. I still felt queasy all the way across in both directions. I had to make strategic stops for photos, that allowed me to rest against something that wasn't mesh. The views across the harbour were spectacular and I'm very glad I braved the heights!
I walked back to Darling Harbour and headed home on the light rail. Today was the first outing for my new Havianas and I over did it as I am now sporting some thing related blisters, hmm. I think I'll sleep well tonight!
