Day 36 Monday 16/09 Izmir > Eceabat 30 deg Sunny -
Enid here...From my king-bed in the comfort of the Crowne Plaza Izmir I enjoyed the panorama of sunrise over Izmir Harbour. We headed to Bergama and took the funicular to the ancient city of Pergamum. We have visited several historic sites in Turkey and at each new site we are in awe at what unfolds. The heights and views from this city were 360 degrees, with lake, valleys and mountains. The theatre was so steep seating 10,000 with a town population of over 150,000 in the 12th century B.C. Now onto Eceabat, via the car ferry from Canakkale, which took just 30 minutes and for 3 people plus car was the equivalent of $15 Aussie dollars. We had the salesman of the year sell us the best lemon juicer you will ever use, it's going straight to the pool room! Our accommodation at Casa Villa was family run and Zafer who could speak English, had many cousins who held various positions in the town, i.e. kebab restaurant owner, Mayor, State senator etc etc...told me he is looking for an Aussie wife, and I was very beautiful and sweet like the cherry jam and that he was very handy?...so stay tuned!, needless to say I enjoyed my stay at Casa Villa. I am living the dream in anticipation of my visit to Gallipoli tomorrow.
