Day 43 Monday 23/09 Metsovo > Kastraki (Meteora) 25 deg Sunny -
Enid here...Another lovely breakfast served by George, the hotel owner. The sun was shining, these mountains sure are beautiful. Only 7 tunnels to Kastraki, relatively short drive. Very different landscape to the mountains, reminiscent of Cappodocia with meteoric rocks rising, some up to 700 Mts. We checked out the six monasteries and nunneries which are perched on top of theses rocks and lookouts and were built between the 13th and 15th century. We toured two, which involved climbing over a 1,000 stone steps. Many beautiful treasures to be seen and lots of history to explore. The views are spectacularly unique, John and my prayers were answered, our tour time was cut as Judy was not allowed to take photo's in certain areas. The Prosecco was calling and so was "mama's" Moussaka, and oh what a good Greek salad. αντίο (goodbye)
