Day 44 Tuesday 24/09 Kastraki (Meteora) > Delphi 25 deg Sunny
John here...Another day of driving...we left Kastraki for Delphi a 220km drive. The road took us through the Pindos Mountains, so it was six hours of concentrated, intense driving, usually in 1st/2nd gear as we zigzagged our way to Delphi (see blog picture). We had lunch on the top of one of the mountains - tinned tuna and cardboard crackers "yum". We got to Delphi around 3pm and were advised we wouldn't get into the museum as we needed an hour to visit and it closed at 4pm but Judy who is the eternal optimist said let's try and we were successful. The museum and the visit to the 4th century B.C. Sanctuary of Apollo of Delphi was well worth the six hour drive and thank god for the photo police. We finished up with dinner at the best restaurant Epikouros, with the best table, with the best view in town. The cabbage rolls in lemon sauce, Greek sausage, and the Fani Salad was all delicious.
