During WW2 It was a concrete underground town the Germans built for the purpose of deploying V2 rockets to destroy London. The complex also contained a very informative historical display of the occupation, resistance and liberation of France, along with information about the Battle of Dunkirk, once again we were reminded of the brutality...

Day 21 Sunday 1/09 Montreuil 20 deg Sunny - John here....Today was a lazy day as we hung around our cottage with lunch at Chateau de Montreuil on the itinerary. We "tarted" ourselves up and headed into town as our booking was for 1.00pm. This restaurant was rated a Michelin star and it was Tres Bon, as they say. Day 20 Friday 30/08 Somme 24 deg Sunny - Enid here...after a long restful night of much needed sleep, I was able to appreciate all the character of our accommodation and the surrounds of the village. Some of the books at our accommodation led us to Arras which was about 50km away, where the information suggested the museum at Albert would be a very good overall of the sites of World War One battlefields of the Somme region this was through a 250 metre long...

Day 19 Thursday 29/08 Montreuil 24 deg Sunny - We are enjoying just relaxing in this town and have wandered around a different part today, so many photo opportunities! Day 18 Wednesday 28/08 Montreuil 23 deg Sunny - John here...After a late breakfast, we wandered into the medieval town to find a laundromat and have a coffee.
