Day 21 Sunday 1/09 Montreuil 20 deg Sunny -
John here....Today was a lazy day as we hung around our cottage with lunch at Chateau de Montreuil on the itinerary. We "tarted" ourselves up and headed into town as our booking was for 1.00pm. This restaurant was rated a Michelin star and it was Tres Bon, as they say. We decided on the 3 course set Menu with an either/or choice. Moët champagne to start followed by two complimentary aperitifs - we thought the second one was our entree and were about to complain they had got it wrong to be told it was a "freebie". We all had a black ink pancake with smoked hake entree on a very busy plate with smears of avocado and grape fruit. Enid had the hake main while Jude and I had pork on a potato mash with avocado purée and turnip pieces washed down with a Chardonnay - magnificent. Desert was a white prune tart with ice cream, coffee, petit fours and chocolates. A great meal in a great restaurant. Our amusement at lunch where a French couple who came to lunch with their two French bulldogs - we later discovered the female was the grandmother of the male (that's the dogs I'm talking about). Lunch concluded around 3.30pm so it was back to the cottage for some R&R. I think dinner will be non-existent....Jude here...he's right there!
