We were supposed to walk to the fly camp today but because they couldn't get a ranger we had to postpone and went later in the day instead.
Instead we headed off for a game drive and went to see if we could find the dogs but as we were later out they had already moved off. Consequently we headed off to a marsh area; there were lines of wildebeest heading there for water, some were crossing it and continuing west. It was an oasis, we also saw gazelles and zebras drinking - it was a very different and unexpected sight - especially as they were surrounded by water birds. A flock of pratincole were also standing in an open area nearby - a first for me - as was the displaying male kori bustard.
Every cloud has a silver lining and missing out on our morning hike meant we got to see an unexpected and amazing sight.
After tea we set off in the safari jeeps until we were about 90 minutes from the fly camp and walked in across the open plains passing Masai bomas and arriving at our camp site on the edge of the Rift Valley. The dark clouds with snippets of light shining through made for interesting pictures. (today's photo)
Alex joined us for supper which we ate outside round the camp fire.
Paul with his UV torch lit up the grass and enabled us to see a scorpion - just shows what you can't see!
As we finished it was spitting with rain and continued to rain all night.
