John's birthday started with his much needed cup of tea as always!
We then had our last early morning walk - it was unusually very misty and damp with spots of rain. When we returned to Sultans house I had my swim before breakfast which was outside. Luckily it brightened and stayed fine and warm but for the whole day it looked like much needed rain was coming. As our flight was not until 4pm we were able to have a last massage and John 'unpressured' was able to finalise the packing. Just after 3pm we said our goodbyes to everyone and headed to the airstrip. The flight to Nairobi was good - from the air you could see lots of showers near Ol Lentille - we hope they arrive so that their empty dams are filled.
John agreed he had had a lovely birthday surprise - the smile never left his face during the whole stay - I love it when a plan comes together!
Before we left we arranged with Gill to sponsor the Nkiloriti food for a year and to buy enough pens and books so every child could have one- an essential for learning! (On getting home I made the donation via their just giving site.)
On arrival at Wilson we transferred to the international airport and waited for our flight to open. When it did we booked in and made our way to the cafe for a much needed coffee. As the BA lounge was destroyed in the fire they served drinks and a few snacks in a corner of the departure lounge, not brilliant but it's a good temporary fix but I wonder how long it will be before things are back to normal - we noted that Kenya Airways are now operating out of their new terminal.
( today's picture is our guide, Timothy, and his family, including his brother the doctor - taken at the Health Centre.)
