Today's the longest day - but shortest in the UK.
We were up on time and had enough time to have a cup of tea before we left - our driver had stayed overnight which enabled an on time departure of 4am!
We arrived at the airport just before 6.30 and checked in easily - the coffee shop wasn't open but we sat in a seat as security wasn't open either. Luckily the coffee shop opened first and we had our first and much needed cafe con leche of the day.
We boarded at 7.30 and unusually left early at 7.45am - presumably everybody expected was on board.....well importantly we were!
After an hour and a half flight we landed at the city airport and emerged with our luggage right onto what I initially thought was the sea front - but the water looked a bit brown - then I realised it was the River Plate - what an enormous river.
The drive to the Park Tower hotel which was in the city centre took about 20 minutes - the hotel was by a big park and very close to the city centre.
Luckily our room was ready and we were allowed to go in - although now feeling tired we showered, did a bit of washing and went into the city centre for a bite to eat and some last minute shopping. We found a lovely big modern shopping arcade - I emerged with some new body cream for the rigours of the antarctic and bought John a new black primaloft Timberland waist coat as I am fed up with his brown Schoffel one appearing all the time......ok for safari and country pursuits but not eating out!!
Having shopped we found somewhere for lunch then returned to the hotel for snoozes.......which we did for much of the rest of the day.
About 8pm with renewed energy we finalised our packing and set the alarm for 5.35 am tomorrow as we have another early start - breakfast at 0630am and off at 7.00am.
