To get back to Vancouver from Powell River you need to take 2 ferries. The first one is from Saltery Bay to Earl's Cove which you pay for. Then you need to drive to Gibson's to take the second ferry from there to Vancouver - and that one is free. Our friends Meralon and Randal own and operate a sightseeing/fishing charter called Pristine Charters out of Powell River. They do customized cruises including lunch cruises, dinner cruises, sightseeing tours, fishing tours and even overnight excursions. Today we visited the town of Chemainus, a beautiful seaside community. Back in the 80's when the milling industry took a downward turn the then mayor of the town proposed to revitilizing the town to make it more attractive to visitors. It now has 44 murals in it's outdoor gallery. A path of painted footsteps on the ground takes you on a walk through town so that each of the murals can be viewed.
