We found it difficult to imagine during our last few days in France that our holiday was coming to an end. It's sad to think of not shopping for fresh food at wonderful markets, not eating baguette, cheese and drinking wine for lunch, and even not challenging ourselves to speak in French every day.

We started talking about this trip about 5 years ago when we were living up North. It was common for families to take a year off and travel on extended adventures...this is less common "down south" and we are met with jealous and incredulous looks when we tell people we are off for 6 weeks with our kids in Europe. We both have a sweet spot for cycling and France and thought it would be the right time to immerse our kids. Plus we get to visit Belgium and Croatia in what ends up …

What an adventure. Colin be careful - you may ruin your engineering cred by writing so nicely. I have always wanted to see Bretagne; what a treat to hear about it, looking forward to more. Wpg misses you all but it will be here in a few weeks time.

Go kids! I remember swimming in Brazil's "winter" in July. It was like 25 degrees and no one was on the beach because the water was too cold? And I was also considered "nuts."

SO Fantastic! Hi Mahri! I also love Nutella and the amazing creme cheese spreads of, well, let's just say Europe as I have never been to Belgium.

Hi from the former Winterpeg. Ernie shared your blog with me and it sure seems that all four of the Joyal-Christies are having an amazing vacation...from visiting WW I & II battlefields, to navigating the Adriatic Sea, to living in a tree house, to visiting Disneyland and visiting with friends an relatives. Great stuff and an experience that you will re-share with each over the years. Enjoy...enjoy...enjoy! The Lamberts.

Bonjour Colin. Nous vous attendons avec impatience demain. Nous avons réservé une crêperie jeudi midi à la ville fortifié de Malo. En effet, c'est un jour férié et il faut se prendre à l'avance. Il y aura mon frère et sa petite famille et mes parents. A demain !!!
