After 16 hours of travel we have arrived in our destination in Bruges, Belgium. We were even greeted at the train station by my relatives Gerrit, Gerda, Ruben and Bjorn. Ruben's great-grandmother is my great grandfather's sister. They are amazing hosts and even took us to the coast for our first dinner.
So far our strategy for dealing with jetlag has been successful - ignore the jetlag, keep going until you drop, sleep 12 hours then bike 75kms. Today went exactly as I had hoped as we spent the day riding on quiet bike paths through the scenery of Flanders. The kids were giggling and asking questions behind us all day long.
Other hilights so far include
- riding the escalators in the airports
- seeing little dogs everywhere - Mahri is in heaven
- visiting the place where my grandpa was born in Torhout (Grandpa George is 97 years young).
- Being spoiled with Belgian hospitality
- Belgian beer
- green grass - the kids were quite excited to find green grass to do cartwheels in
Lowlight so far is having this blog crash just after finishing writing it the first time ;-(

Jody Sie So glad the jet lag hasn't put a damper on your trip! You're not missing anything here in Winnipeg. It's been cold and gloomy since you left.
