This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius...........
Two nights and one day in Byron Bay and rather than spending the day on the beach watching people surf we decided to go on a day trip to Nimbin.
After the night out where Dan got naked and the police brought him home (I do like to mention it) we all woke up about half 9. Trip leaves at 10.15 so plenty of time to shower and get ready. we get downstairs and check out and stand at the bus stop. I look at my watch and perfect, it was 10.14. It eventually becomes 10.30 and when we ask at the travel desk we are told the bus had been and left early!!!!! Luckily we got on a shuttle which caught us up with them and we only had 45 minutes less than the others in Nimbin.
"Nimbin is a true product of the hippy-era and the legendary 1973 Aquarius Festival" says Lonely Planet. Basically it's a really colourful small town and weed and space cookies are really common but not legal. We walked around and grabbed a coffee before meeting up with the rest of our actual group. We headed off on the bus, some good songs playing in the background, and eventually stopped near a lake to have a barbecue. We went for a walk down to the lake until food was ready and then ate lunch. After lunch we headed back, stopping off at a waterfall on the way. Dan and one other guy swam in it but the rest of us just aren't crazy.
The bus dropped us off back in our hostel in Byron Bay and by this point the whole day had completely spaced me out. We watch Steve and Dan perform in the talent show, followed by some others. At about half 8 I headed to bed for what was a well overdue 11 sleep.
We are now on route to Sydney for our last stop before flying to New Zealand on Saturday. Hope all is good back home.
