After a cool few nights at Rainbow Beach, a great camping trip to Fraser Island and a couple of mad nights in Noosa, I have reached my next major city, Brisbane. So alcohol and food has yet again become more expensive, but there's much to do here. Went for a run round the city yesterday followed by a swim in the pool and then a jacuzzi, so I've done my exercise for the trip!
Today I plan to walk round the city, which will take a while but the rugby stadium (Suncorp) and cricket ground (The Gabba) are on opposite ends of the city which is a bit of a pain, but at least it gives me some sort of route to cover the city.
Fraser Island was really good fun. Never really been a huge fan of camping but we had an awesome tour guide and group which made things pretty simple. The weather remained awesome for the whole trip, which was ideal as the lakes/creeks we visited require a nice day to really give them a fair representation. The water in Eli Creek, which is the first we went to, is cleaner than any water I've ever seen in nature. We were told we could drink as much as we liked, and it tasted literally like drinking out of a cold bottle. On a similar note, the sand at Lake McKenzie is so clean that we were brushing our teeth and exfoliating our skin with it. Then washing the sand out of our mouth with the pure water in the lake, pretty cool stuff.
Our foodbox did get attacked by dingoes, but for some reason they only hacked into the butter, cheese and milk. Maybe some sort of dairy craving dingo?
Otherwise, driving along the beach in a 4x4 that we hired out, we saw loads of jellyfish, sea snakes and most importantly, dolphins and whales.
I'll be staying in Brisbane for about 4 nights, then I'm once again heading South to Sydney!
Oh and yes, Ella, Luigi's fine!
