Road Trip Day 6
Still absolutley freezing at night even though we are wearing 3 layers of clothing! When the hell is this country going to warm up! Set off again today at 6 a.m. with an aim to get all the way across the Nallabor Plain. Its a massive massive road with thie highlights (not too sure if it is one) being the longest bit of straight road in Australia - 90 miles! It was a pretty boring drive to be honest
We came across quite a few cars to be honest, with alot of caravans making the trek for WA to SA. There were hundreds of dead Kangeroos on the side of the road as they get killed by the Road Trains when they are drinking water off the road! Not being funny but they probably deserve it if they are going to sit on the motorway drinking water infront of a Road Train.
The road trains are pretty impressive, think of an 18 wheeler and then triple it in size! Pretty epic. They drive at 110kmh during the day and then get up to 160 at night plowing through everything in their path! There was a story we got told about some camels drinking on the road, there were people camping on the side of the road and watching the camels drink, next thing they hear a rumble of a Road Train. The camels were too stupid to move so the Road Train just obliterated them. The campers were left with nothing but Camels Legs and blood all over their tents!
